Ramon was born and raised in Mexico City, and was around the riding and care of horses virtually his entire childhood. His grandparents who had emigrated from England and Spain, introduced him to the world of horses and Ramon continually rode and became involved in the entire spectrum of the care of horses.
It is during college however, when one of his best friends, a former Olympic rider, got him involved in Grand Prix and Ramon was captivated by the opportunity of training and riding world class sport horses.
In 1993 after several business trips to Costa Rica, he decided to relocate there. He started Club Hipico Boca Arenal in the northern part of the country at the base of Arenal Volcano and showed extensively on the local circuit in the capital of San Jose. Here he began training Criollos, Appendixes, Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods. As Ramon's experience and contacts grew, he had the opportunity to travel and train with different professional trainers from Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico. Ultimately he traveled to Brazil where he trained and showed with multiple Grand Prix national champion Rowin Von Reininghaus.
Ramon recognized that Houston, Texas was becoming an international crossroads between North and South America for European breeds, and in 2008 he established Del Lago Sporthorses. He has recently joined forces with Texas Charm School and currently specializes in the training and sales of domestic and imported Warmbloods as hunters and jumpers.
